I decided to go out for the night so i thought it would be a good idea to have my sound recorder going for around 3 minutes. My ac turned on a little after. I caught a few things like fire truck sirens, and some sort of ear ringing sound. Not sure where that came from but it happened. I recorded this for a project i was doing, and because i used so many samples from this site on the project, i figured i'd give some back too. This is the sound of my dorm room at nyu, recorded in an xy configuration with two condenser microphones.

Short recording of a royal air force boeing chinook helicopter flying overhead at night in windy conditions, hankley common, surrey, england. First, the engine note of the turbines can be heard and as it turns, the characteristic rotor 'slap'. It then fades into the distance. Recorded on a zoom h2 with a sennheiser mono gun mike.

Large ship 40 metres long boat with engines running. M/v blue horizon, operating in the red sea. The engines shut down about 1 min in leaving the sound of the power generator and air conditioning. Recorded with a contour+2 camera.

This sound is a katana sword being swung close to the microphone it was recorded in a gym. It was recorded using a zoom h1 with foam windscreen attached. The clip was cleaned up (removed air condition sound) in adobe audition cs6. You can hear some handling of the sword at some points. Some swings have a higher pitch than others but this is the real thing.

Oddly enough this man does not consider himself a baritone, and his speaking voice is not so deep. This was not modified except with noise reduction, because the air conditioning was audible. It just happens to be the deepest sound i've ever heard him make, and he wasn't awake. So it wasn't a moan, or a groan, or a gasp. Please tell me what you think it is. A wonderful typical mid-summer soundscape of cicadas, and some katydids recorded on the edge of a small town in illinois. Towards the end of the recording you will hear a very cool doppler-effect as the truck passes from right to left. Recorded about 8:00 at night with my zoom h4-n recorder using it's internal microphones. I had the volume level set fairly high -- 80 -- so you will probably also hear the constant hum of the various central air conditioning units. .

This is a recording of michigan avenue in chicago from an interior perspective made from the 24th floor facing west. The microphones were spaced apart and placed very close to the window. Stereo recording of the interior of an ice cream parlor in the historic center of dubrovnik / croatia. It is early afternoon in high summer. The sales crew are a merry lot, bantering loudly with the tourists of different nations that are absolutely cramming the place. Lots of multinational voices can be heard, men, women and children talking loudly and all at once. Under that is the intense hum of a cooling system working itself to death!the ice cream was good too. I can recommend the peanut flavor. Recorded with a zoom h2, mics set to 90° dispersion.

An enjoyable trip back to my childhood. . . Way before cell phones and the internet. Summers were enjoyed walking on the gravel alleys looking at the beautiful, mature trees in my own little corner of the neighborhood. Does this return you to your childhood?. A nice capture of those beautiful chimney swifts twittering above -- a true signature of summer -- occurs at 38 seconds in, then again at 2:24. The typical hum of central air conditioning units is ever present throughout. From 2:11 to 2:27 i stop and you can hear the hum of these units getting louder. At 2:44 a dog barks in the distance. Checked-in to a hotel in raleigh, north carolina with my wife to catch a flight early the next morning out of rdu. Suddenly, a storm rolled in to the area and, since we were going to bed anyway, i placed my zoomh4npro (120 degree setting) on the air conditioning unit below the window.
